BIANCO BIANCHI SNC

General presentation

Scagliola is a fascinating and elaborate working for the continuous diligence and research: it is a particular inlay technique that uses natural materials  just like selenite powder, colored pigments and natural glues. The use of this material, known to the Romans and used like decoration and building materials, became a real expression of art during the XVII century able to mix painting, inlay and shaping.
Florentine scagliola had its moment of glory with the abbot Enrico Hugford (1695-1771) and it fascinated many European courts. In facts scagliola furnished with tables, pictures, columns and floors Versailles Palace, Palazzo Pitti, Windsor Caste, Hermitage Palace in St. Petersburg and many others.

Putting Florence back at the centre of a new Grand Tour for all art-lovers in search of something unique for their homes required the passion of an office worker/artist, Bianco Bianchi, who loved painting and who dedicated ten years (at the end of the Forties) of his free time searching for the right formula for the scagliola mixes.
Today his children Alessandro and Elisabetta, who inherited his passion, continue to produce masterpieces with the same antique technique, restore antique works and organise courses for students and art lovers.
