ERIC BONTE, a Master Glassblower and National School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades (Ecole Nationale des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art) graduate, Olivier de Serre in Paris, provides his clients with his know-how in order to fulfil their dreams. After leaving school in 1979, he took over a stained glass workshop, which made him famous with achievements reputed for their quality. Hotel Plaza Athénée, Hotel Raphael, Hotel Regina in Paris, the headquarters of Cap Gemini Sogeti at Place de l’Etoile in Paris are part of his prestigious clients. He has become the glass artist of painter Jean Bazaine, creating for him the stained glass windows of the Saint Dié Cathedral in the Vosges. With a team of about sixty people, the workshop creates all the stained glass windows of the Basilica in eighteen months, the most important order of stained glass in history, with 8,400 m2 of legendary and unanimously acclaimed stained glass. Under the direction of Eric Bonte, artists and technicians work for various projects throughout the world:The domes and ceiling of the Movenpick complex in Sharm el Sheikh, the zenith slope glazing in the Conference Centre of the Arab League in Sharm el Sheikh, the canopies and ceilings of the Flo Brewery in Strasbourg, of the Rostang restaurant in Paris, of the Grand Café des Capucines and Convention in Paris, of the Grand Café de l’Univers in Saint Quentin, etc., and a great number of domes or ceilings for private residences in Kuwait, Jeddah, Oman, Tokyo, Vevey, Luxembourg, Paris, Saint Petersburg, etc. Eric Bonte’s passion drives him to create an endless array of light, colour, material, always emphasising the artistic and technical quality of his creations, respectful of an ancestral French know-how which he perfectly knows how to renew and modernise, much to his clients’ satisfaction and amazement. Domes of all sizes have been made for over thirty years; they majestically adorn interiors worldwide. France is reputed for traditional stained glass, and Eric Bonte embodies an additional facet of its know-how.
